Jamie L. Oglesby, 97, of Warrington passed away Sunday, December 10, 2006 of natural causes.

Born April 12, 1909 in Myrtle, MS, Mrs. Oglesby pursued a career in music prior to entering service with the National American Red Cross in 1944. Following indoctrination training at the American University in Washington, D.C., she served in various assignments in military hospitals, supporting injured World War II servicemen. For her efforts she was awarded a certificate of meritorious service from then President Harry S. Truman.

In 1948 Mrs. Oglesby reported to the field office at Pensacola Naval Hospital as Recreation Worker and Recreational Supervisor. She remained at Pensacola Naval Hospital, ultimately moving to the position of Assistant Field Director and Coordinator of the Local Red Cross Board Program. Mrs. Oglesby retired from active service with the Red Cross in 1977, ending a 30 year career assisting military personnel and their families.

Mrs. Oglesby is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Peggy A. Schied (and husband CDR Charles F. Schied, USN (Retired); their two sons Charles Schied, Jr. and Jeffrey Charles; and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Thursday, December 14, 2006 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Barrancas National Cemetery next to her late husband, Ira Daniel Oglesby.
