Suddenly on September 25, 1984, at the Grace Hospital, Douglas Massid Cassie, aged 37 years, beloved husband of Shirley, dear father of Daniel, Michelle, and David. He also leaves to mourn, his mother Shirley Geraldine Cassie; one brother Ron Smith and sister-in-law Leslle of Belair, Man.; one sister Erin Cassie; grandparents, Massid and Alice Haddad; two nieces, Tamara and Charlene; two nephews, Benjamin and Michael. Douglas graduated from Grant Park High School. Over the years he owned and operated Fair-Ness 66, Purple Circle Auto, and Parkington Motors. At the time of his death, he was manager of Petro Canada Goulet Gas Bar. Doug was an avid hockey enthusiast, a loving and caring father, who devoted many hours transporting his and neighborhood children to hockey, soccer, and ringette practices. Prayers will be said Thursday, September 27 at 7:30 p.m. in Leatherdale Gardiner St. James Chapel, 1858 Portage Ave. Funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, September 28 at 10:30 a.m. in the Christian Centre John XXIII, 3390 Portage Ave. with Fr. John Currie officiating. Interment to follow in Assumption Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Messrs. Peter Milankovic, John Podworniak, Rick Lawryniuk, Keith Schmaltz, Frank Petruskavich and Ed Hu-Zarewich. Leatherdale Gardiner St. James Chapel. Phone 888-7977.
