Mark Knoop, 91, of Troy, Ohio died on Thursday, August 24, 2006 at Dorothy Love Retirement Community in Sidney, Ohio.

He was born on June 21, 1915 in Troy, Ohio to the late John K. and Dorothy (Dale) Knoop.

He married Dorothy (Kercher) and she survives his wife of 67 years. Also surviving are two daughters & sons-in-law; Rebecca & Oliver W.N. Shepard of Normandy, France; Elizabeth & Thomas B. Herrlinger of Albuquerque, New Mexico; sisters, Janet Montanus and Barbara Shepard both of Cincinnati, Ohio; two grandchildren, Kate Herrlinger of Denver, Colorado and Laura Herrlinger of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, John Jacob Knoop and sister, Dorothy Closson.

He was a life member of the First Presbyterian Church, Troy, OH; Past President of the Ohio Cattlemen's Association; Miami County Children's Service Board; Troy Rotary Club; Piqua Racquet Club; Board of Trustees with Stouder Memorial Hospital; Director of First National Bank, Troy; Retired Director Star Banc Corporation, Cincinnati; Retired Tri-County Mental Health Board; Ohio Commodore's Association; he was invited by Governor Rhoades to accompany a group of 32 businessmen on a trade development trip to China in 1980 as an agricultural representative; was a member of the Grizzly Riders International, Missoula, Montana; member of Brukner Nature Center; Board of Trustees with Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy; Chamber of Commerce Distinguished Citizen Award in 1983; National Livestock and Meat Board, Chicago; Director and Treasurer of the American National Cattlemen's Association, Denver, Colorado and Director of Briarwood Sportsman's Club.

He began school in a one-room schoolhouse on the family farm; attended Staunton Elementary School; attended Troy High School and the University of Wisconsin, graduating Phi Delta Fraternity.

He was a lifelong farmer in Miami County; fifth generation of family to own and operate farm settled in 1800 by John Knoop; Operated Trojan Farms, Inc in conjunction with own farm.

Private services to be held at the convenience of the family at the family cemetery with Rev. Dr. Richard Culp officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that contributions be made to the Troy Foundation, 910 West Main Street Troy, Ohio
