Rita Marie (Cacy) McConnico went to her Lord on December 6, 2007 in San Antonio, Texas. She was 89. Born in Enterprise, Oklahoma on September 24, 1918, she grew up in Lindsay, Oklahoma, the daughter of Daisy Dean Ezell and Israel Sodoris Cacy. She was the direct descendant of Abner Casey, who was the first Casey to come to America. Marie was married to Noel McConnico for 67 years and was an active member of the Putnam City Church of Christ in Warr Acres, Oklahoma for 55 years. She was a Girl Scout and Cub Scout Den Mother for many years, and assisted the Boy Scouts for several years. Marie was known for her farming skills, for she planted and sowed many a garden over the years, and every year she would pick, shell, and sell her pecans from her trees. Although she had to drop out of school at an early age, she went on to get her Master Gardener Certification from the University of Oklahoma. Marie is preceded in death by her husband and by her eldest son, Edmond Noel McConnico. She is survived by her daughter, Opal Marie Walker, and her youngest son and his wife, Steve and Veronica McConnico, 6 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held Wed., Dec. 12, 2007, at Hahn- Cook/Street & Draper Funeral Home at 2:00 P.M., with interment to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
