George C. Smith, 68 of Mount Vernon passed away on October 13, 2021, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. He was born on April 28, 1953, to Ralph B and Ruth M (Fowler) Smith in Mount Vernon, OH.
George worked in the shop at Cooper Bessemer, Rolls-Royce and then Siemens in Mount Vernon for 40+ years. He also was a lifelong farmer. He was very active in 4H, The Knox County Cattleman's Association, The Farm Bureau and the Ohio Farmland Preservation Program. He was an expert sheep shearer and he enjoyed showing Beef Cattle.
He is survived by sister Kathryn Smith of Mount Vernon and many extended family.
George was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Barbara Butler, Sandra Williams, and a brother Ralph Smith.
