Donald M. Lensmire, 86, Kewaunee, died Saturday, January 27, 2018. He was born December 29, 1931 to the late Richard A. and Emily (Krall) Lensmire in the town of Franklin in Manitowoc County. Donald attended public school and graduated from Valders High School in 1949. He received his Cheesemakers License and was employed at Lake to Lake in Kiel, from 1951 to 1953. Uncle Sam inducted Donald in the U.S. Army on February 17, 1953 to February 9, 1955 stationed in South Korea from July 1953 to January 1955. Upon return from service he married his high school sweetie, LaVerne "Lovie" Lutzke, on May 21, 1955. They moved to the Ellisville area and worked at Ellisville Dairy from 1955 to 1985, then with the United States Dept. of Agriculture from April 1985 to January 1995. Don attended the University of Wisconsin Dairy Course and when employed with the Dept. of Agriculture he attended meat grading and certification school in Chicago and Texas. He retired in January of 1995 and drove school bus for Dvorak Busses. He loved traveling, playing cards, gardening and dancing. He was a member of St. Therese Parish, St. Joseph-St. John Site in Pilsen where he was a Lay Distributor and money counter, a member of the Holy Name Society, a member of the Catholic Foresters, a member of the American Legion Ralph Kline Post 262 in Luxemburg for 53 years and a volunteer at Bellin Health Concerned Hearts.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, 8 months, and 6 days, LaVerne "Lovie", four sons, and two daughters, Terry (Mary Kay) Lensmire, Manitowoc; Cindy Lensmire, Luxemburg; Tony (Jean) Lensmire, Denmark; Debbie (fiancé Mark Vaught), IN; Don (Lynn) Lensmire, Pat (Debbie) Lensmire, Luxemburg; 12 grandchildren, Eric (Melody) Lensmire; Matt (Melissa) Lensmire; Kyle (Natalie) Klarkowski; Bridget (Robert) Dahlke; Brandon (Heather) Lensmire; Nicole (Eric) Dietrich; Lindsay Klarkowski; Abbey Lensmire (fiancé Josh); Christine (Alan) Mikeal; Josh Lensmire; Kayla Lensmire (friend Kenny); Zach (Autumn) Lensmire; three great-grandchildren, Aeva Dahlke; Dylan Lensmire and Claire Dietrich; two sisters and two brothers in law, Laverne (Eugene) Jerovetz, Carol (Tony) Vanderbloemen, all of Green Bay; one brother and two sisters in law, Richard "Dick" and Marilyn Lensmire, Stangelville; Nancy Lensmire, Pilsen; one sister in law and one brother in law, Bea Lutzke, Ellisville; Gene Springtube, Manitowoc.
Don will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, infant Richard Lensmire; Gerald Lensmire; two brothers in law, Norman "Boysie" Lutzke Jr; Gary Lutzke (01-29-2018); two sisters in law, Darlene Gosz and Jeanette Springstube.
Friends may call 9:00 am till 10:45 am at St. Therese Parish, St. Joseph-St. John Site, Pilsen, 860 WI 29, Luxemburg on Saturday, February 3, 2018. Funeral 11:00 am on Saturday at the church with Rev. Dennis Drury officiating. Full Military Rites follow the funeral Mass with the American Legion Ralph Kline Post 262 of Luxemburg. Entombment at Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum, Manitowoc.
