Cecil E. McLemore
1936 - 2021

Cecil E McLemore was born July 6, 1936, in Ball Play, Monroe County, TN to his parents Ollie Mae and Bud McLemore. He was raised in the Maryville TN, and Smoky Mountain communities of Tellico Plains and Madisonville.

Cecil joined the Air Force at the age of 18 and was stationed at Travis AFB where he developed life-long friends and honed his skills as a draftsman.

Cecil met and married Rosalie Bertsch from Dixon, raised four children, and built his career as a general contractor. Cecil was a gifted designer, developer and draftsman, a cabinetmaker, and had the ability to build a project from the ground up and through completion. He was a prolific custom home and commercial builder throughout the Dixon, Davis, Vacaville, and Woodland communities, as well as the foothills and Siskiyou County. He mentored his son and many others in the building business.
Cecil and his family enjoyed camping and fishing and were members of the Dixon Boat Club.

Cecil was active in the community. In the 1970s when large apartment complexes were proposed, Cecil attended many City Council meetings and wrote multiple editorials in the newspaper lobbying to maintain the wonderful small-town atmosphere of Dixon. Cecil was an avid pilot and flew throughout the West. He also spent a lot of time "hangar flying" with his pals. Cecil was also active in the Yolo County Aero Squadron and served on the Board. He loved country music and would sing during karaoke events whenever possible.

Cecil met Ann Roland of Woodland in 1994. He encouraged Ann to earn her private pilot license. They spent many years flying, building homes, and traveling in their truck and trailer together. Ann and Cecil were married in 2015 and cherished their years together. Cecil is survived by his wife, Ann; his daughters and their spouses, Brooks and Jim Scott of Vacaville, Kimberlie and Clay McBride of Lodi, Deanne and Troy Webster of Vacaville; and his son, Brian McLemore of Ione. Cecil has 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 20 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at the Yolo County Airport, 24794 Aviation Wy, Davis, CA. Burial services will also be held that day at 2:30 p.m. at the National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Rd., Dixon, CA. The family welcomes those who knew Cecil and his family and wish to attend.
