Eddie was a 1954 graduate of Rolfe Consolidated High School. He went on to honorably serve in the Air Force, and had a successful, 42-year career with American Airlines.
He loved to fish and enjoyed watching sports—especially the Chicago Cubs, Bears, and Bulls, boating, spending time at his trailer in the Wisconsin Dells, and watching TV.
Survivors include his wife of five years and beloved companion of 15 years, Delia; children, Ronald Olney, Thomas Olney, Laura (Scott) Bernard, and Diana Olney; grandchildren, Brandy, Jenny, Dean, Desiray, and Josh; and great-grandchildren, Giovanni, Lynorah, Benny, Ethan, Mariana, Brianna, Ava, and Olivia.
In addition to his parents, Eddie was preceded in death by his son, Edgar "Eddie" D. Olney, Jr.; and sister, Janet Olney.
Visitation Friday, October 22, from 4-8 p.m., at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals & Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake. Visitation will resume Saturday, October 23, from 9 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 10 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial, with Air Force honors, will be in Grant Cemetery, Ingleside.
