McALLEN --- C.P. Rounds, 85, died Monday, December 23, 1996, at McAllen Medical Center. Mr. Rounds was born in Mt. Sterling, Illinois, and had lived in McAllen since 1977. He was a Funeral Director in Illinois, the Civil Defense Director for Brown County, Illinois, during WWII and the County Coroner for 20 years. He also attended Purdue University, was a member of the Mt. Sterling, Illinois, Masonic Lodge, a York Rite and Scottish Rite Mason, a life member of the Ansar Shrine in Springfield, Illinois, and was active in the Rotary Club. He had been a Boy Scout leader and received the Silver Beaver Award. Mr. Rounds also attended the First Christian Church in McAllen.

He is survived by his wife Mary Rounds of McAllen; one daughter, Anne Garrett and her husband Jim of San Antonio, Texas; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, December 26, 1996, at Kreidler Funeral Home on North 10th Street in McAllen. The family will be present to greet friends. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 27, 1996, at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church, 1400 N. 10th, McAllen, Texas, 78501, or a favorite charity of choice.

Services were entrusted to the care of Kreidler Funeral Home in McAllen.
