David Claude Romagosa, 63, went to be with his Savior on Sunday, October 17, 2021, at his home surrounded by his wife and children. He is survived by his wife, Lucia (nee Alongia) Romagosa; his three daughters, Natalie Bass, Caitlin Romagosa, Jillian Pace (Marshall), and step-daughter, Tiffanie Lapene (David); four grandchildren, Benjamin and Noah Bass and Emma and Aidan Lapene; and his former wife, Julie Romagosa. He is also survived by many loving relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Garland and Edith (nee Berry) Romagosa, and his son-in-law, David Bass.

David was born in New Orleans on November 2, 1957. He graduated from East Jefferson High School in Metairie and entered the United States Navy shortly thereafter. After 15 years and countless ports of call in the Nuclear Submarine Service, David transitioned to the private sector and received his Bachelor's degree from Loyola University.

He joined U.S. Gypsum and quickly moved up in the organization. His knowledge, ability to problem solve, and amicable personality made David a leader among his colleagues. He was a dedicated, hardworking, and committed employee, working on the management team until his retirement in September 2021.

As a native New Orleanian, he was passionate about Mardi Gras, where he and his daughters could be found loyally representing sidewalk side, enjoying the festivities throughout the day as parades rolled through into the evening. A firm believer in chance favoring the prepared, it was customary to see him lugging chairs, coolers filled with sodas and sandwiches, and on Fat Tuesday, king cake and Popeye's chicken. He rooted for the Saints and was a lover of local New Orleans cuisine, in particular a roast beef or shrimp and oyster poboy. He loved to watch cooking shows and cook New Orleans favorites. Another beloved tradition was the annual Caroling in Jackson Square; he loved experiencing every aspect of this city, and he was truly happiest when spending time with family.

He was fond of technology and technological advancements. He often had the new gadget the minute it came out, and he would regularly gloat about the quality of his television to anyone who would listen to him. And what a TV it was(is)!

David's true passion was his daughters. He was a remarkable father and poured his heart and soul into raising them. From imparting life skills, to watching movies, to being a confidant, he was always there. He was fond of travel, none greater than road trips with his girls; traveling across the country and absorbing the history, culture, beauty and uniqueness of each place was a joy and delight. Moreover, creating beautiful memories, celebrating togetherness and strengthening their bonds was life's greatest gift for David.

David made a huge impact on every life he touched and will be missed by all who knew him. He was a caring husband, a loving father, and a genuine friend. His quick wit, humor, and jolliness were with him to the very end. Rest In Peace David, you were loved more than words can describe.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at Metairie Baptist Church, 401 Codifer Blvd. in Metairie, Louisiana, on Monday, October 25, 2021 at 12:00PM. A visitation will be held at the church beginning at 10:00AM. A private interment will take place at South Louisiana Veteran's Cemetery in Slidell, Louisiana.
