Business Executive, Attorney, Spanish-American War Officer. Born in Norwood, Ohio, he was the son of Joseph Benson Foraker, a United States Senator, Governor of Ohio, Judge, and a Union Civil War Officer. Foraker, Jr. was educated in public and private schools in Cincinnati and later attended Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio. He went on to study at Cornell University and graduated in 1893 and then graduated from the Cincinnati Law School in 1895. In 1898, Foraker was appointed by President William McKinley as Assistant Adjutant-General on the staff of Major General James F. Wade during the Spanish-American War. He was sent to Cuba and nearly lost his life after contracting yellow fever. He had recovered enough to resume his post and served in Cuba for the remainder of the war. Afterwards, he returned to Cincinnati and became a secretary to his father. In 1901, he became vice president of the Cincinnati Traction Company and later as president until his death in 1915. He was also a director of the Cincinnati Gas and Electric Company and a director of the United States Lithograph Company as well as a trustee of the University of Ohio. He died suddenly while visiting New York at Manhatten Beach in 1915 when he was 42 years old.
