He was born to Rufus Benton Moore and Ina Beatrice Coder Moore Murray Starr. He was an only child.
On August 10, 1931, in Toledo, he married Geraldine Beatrice Insprucker, who survived him.
Also surviving are a daughter, Judy Marie; and two grandsons, Mike and Todd Dearbaugh.
He worked for the New York Central Railroad as Head Clerk at the time of his retirement. He was a Life Master at Bridge and known for his ability to analyze and play a hand. He had some of his challenging hands published as puzzlers in the newspaper.
