Juan José Castro 1805–1878, married Maria Rita Josefa Pinto, January 23, 1826, SJS# 1603, and had 9 sons and 7 daughters:

He was said to have been over 6 feet tall, like his brothers, and over 300 pounds. Juan José Castro and Guadalupe Castro were elected Justices of the Peace of the county in 1851. On December 13, 1873 the Rancho San Andrés Castro Adobe was sold to the highest bidder in front of the courthouse with 39 acres, Lot #3, for $2,000. This was Juan José's lot and the Castro family hacienda.

His father, Joaquín Castro, was granted the 8,911 acre Rancho San Andres in 1833 in modern day Watsonville: https://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=22271. After Joaquín's death, Juan José completed the Castro Adobe, today a historic park. On January 30, 1877, Juan José Castro, aged 75, died and was buried in the Catholic Cemetery (St. Patrick's Church).
