He served in the United States Marine Corp, serving one tour of duty in Okinawa, Japan, as a supply clerk.
On July 14, 1973 he married the former Bonnie Johnson.
An area businessman who owned and operated a gas station in Menominee, Mi., he also worked in the forestry industry and was a self-taught taxidermist.
He was an avid coin collector, hunter and fisherman. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #43 of Stephenson, Mi. and the Triple "C" bike club.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Bonnie;
three daughters, Debbie Mullins, Cindy Beno and Mrs. Jim (Royal) Zeraski;
a son, Dan Beno;
a stepson, Chris Wery;
a stepdaughter, Mrs. Scott (Christine) Hafeman;
three sisters: Louise Echols, Barb Hollo and Sandie Woods;
a brother, John Beno, Jr.
and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother Frank; two sisters: Rose DeLaurelle and Mary Beno and his in-laws, Walter and Marion Johnson.
Family and friends may call on Wednesday, Jan. 13 at the Stephenson United Methodist Church after 4 p.m. Military rites will be conducted at 5:45 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 6 p.m. Rev. John Lindt will officiate and burial will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery in Banat.
