Wilma J. "Joey" Addison, age 77, a New Castle resident, passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at Indiana University Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was born June 4, 1944 in Gainesboro, Tennessee, a daughter of William Pigg and Ruth Bell (Boles) Pigg.
Joey attended Lapel High School and was a graduate of 1962. After high school, she owned and operated "Jo's Beauty Shop" from her home and also owned and operated "Flowers by Wax and Wicks" in Middletown, Indiana. Joey enjoyed and was very talented in decorating and floral design. She was employed at Meeks Florist in New Castle for several years as a designer. Joey enjoyed attending car shows and shopping-especially with her daughter, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter. Joey especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority. Recently, she attended Grand Avenue Baptist Church in New Castle.
She is survived by her husband, Charles "Eddie" Addison of New Castle; two children, Cynthia (husband, Terry) Stephens of New Castle and Rodney (wife, Marcy) Brenneman also of New Castle; two stepchildren, Brian Addison of Jacksonville, Florida and Brent Addison of Lakeland, Florida; two sisters, Patty (husband, Max) Wix of Ellington, Florida and Judy Holland of Richmond, Indiana; one brother, Ray (wife, Diana) Pigg of Lapel, Indiana; two grandchildren, Ryan (wife, Diana) Stephens of Wheeling, Illinois and Emily (husband, Dustin) McDaniel of New Castle, Indiana; one step-granddaughter, Rebecca Newan of Jacksonville, Florida; two great-grandchildren, Conor McDaniel and Eleanor Stephens; several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ruth (Boles) Pigg.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 29, 2021 at Macer-Hall-Marcum Funeral Home, 2011 East Broad Street, New Castle with Pastor Charles Dugger officiating. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 p.m., Friday at Brookside Cemetery in Lapel, Indiana. Friends may call from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m., Thursday, October 28, 2021 at the funeral home.
