Joseph A. Toter, 87, a guest at Trinity Mission Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Shenandoah Heights, died Monday at the center.

Born in Hazleton, he was a son of the late Angelo and Jenny Dorenzo Toter.

He lived in Mount Carmel for most of his life. He had been employed by Clark's Poultry, Paxinos, until he retired. He was a member of First Church of God, Mount Carmel, and Kulpmont Fire Company

He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Helen Gorman, in 1987; two sisters, Bridget Kutler and Anna Mashack; and two brothers, Dominic and Angelo Toter.

Surviving are three sons, Dennis Toter and his wife, Jill, Shenandoah Heights, David Toter, Sunbury Barry Toter, Shamokin; two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Michael Toter; two great- grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Private funeral services and interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Louis D. Truskowsky Funeral Home, Mahanoy City is in charge of arrangements.
