Benton Franklin Smith,69, a resident of Newkirk for more than 20 years, died Monday afternoon in his home at 305 North Pine.
Smith was born in Sedan, Kansas, February 14, 1879, and was a retired stone mason when he died.
Funeral services were held in Newkirk this morning in the Hill Funeral chapel with Free Methodist retired pastor Rev. A.D. ____ officiating. He was buried in the cemetery at Sedan, Kansas under the direction of Hill Funeral Home.
Smith is survived by his wife Nancy, two sons by a previous marriage, Cale C. Smith of Casa Grande, Arizona and Leslie Smith of Sedan, Kansas and several step children. He is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Clara Andrews, Caney, Kansas.
