Jerry was raised on a farm and had to grow up before his time. He often served as a protector for his brothers and sisters. Although faced with obstacles as a child, Jerry grew into a man who was a good provider, a loving father, and a man of faith.
Jerry was a life-long learner. Although primarily self-taught, he was well versed on many subjects and was a man of many skills. One of his best decisions was to marry Dorothy Holder on July 2, 1964. Together, they raised two sons. Jerry was proud of his boys and loved them deeply. But nothing compared to the love he had for his only granddaughter.
Jerry was a member of Zion Baptist Church in Henderson. Jerry loved the Lord and he spent a lot of time expressing to anyone who would listen that each day is a blessing from God.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyndle and Sarah (née Kiper) Hendrickson; and his siblings, Donald, Joseph, Bill, Tommy, and Mary Fran.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dorothy Hendrickson; his sister, Becky (Norm) Miller; his sons, Scott and Kevin (Paula); and his beloved granddaughter, Marissa. He is also survived by bonus granddaughters, Alyssa Schutte, Kendra (Riley) Reynolds and their daughter Khloe, and Jada Cullum. Several nieces and nephews also survive, as do a long list of friends.
