Kent Falwell, Sr. of Bradford passed from this life into his eternal life with the Lord on Thursday, October 28, 2021.
Born on the twelfth day of the twelfth month at twelve minutes before twelve midnight and lacking twelve ounces weighing twelve pounds; Lendol Kent Falwell was born December 12, 1933, in Bradford, Arkansas, the son of Algie and Mildred Falwell. Much of his childhood was spent with his grandparents, Virgil and Elizabeth Falwell.
Kent Excelled in baseball and basketball at Bradford High School where he graduated in 1952. After high school he made his way to Chicago to try out for the Chicago White Sox baseball team. Unfortunately, his call back was intercepted by his mother who thought he needed a "real job" and therefore neglected to tell him he received the call until many years later.
He came back to Bradford and married his high school sweetheart, Dorlene Smith. They Moved to Camden, Arkansas where he worked in a bottling plant and a movie theatre. In 1953 they moved back to Bradford where he worked at share crop farming and started a family. Through hard work and determination, Kent was soon able to obtain a little land and begin to farm his own farm. He instilled this work ethic and determination into each of his four sons. He truly enjoyed working, especially running his Case backhoe, his John Deere combine and caring for and managing Angus cattle.
Kent was a member of Bradford Baptist Church where he served as a deacon from 1963 until the time of his death. For many years Kent taught seventh through ninth grade students Sunday school and Sunday night Bible study, chaperoned kids at church camp and encouraged all his students to study their Bible, do their best and accept Jesus Christ as their Savior.
Kent took agriculture courses at Arkansas State University-Beebe and served his country for six years as a medic in the Arkansas National Guard.
Kent enjoyed working his farm, time with his family and Cardinal baseball, a cold glass of milk with ice and dessert, and he always had a toothpick! Not one to ever take a drink of alcohol; he thoroughly enjoyed a cold Mountain Dew drink! His grandchildren fondly remember him as a great story teller of his childhood growing up at his grandparent's home.
Kent was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Edward Falwell; two sisters, Reba Hays and Thieda Ross; two sons, Barry Lynn Falwell, Sr. and Dr. Kevin "Wade: Falwell, Sr.; a grandson, Barry Falwell, Jr.
