GALIEN - Norma Jean Leidy, 81, died of natural causes at 5:09 p.m. on
Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007, in Brentwood Assisted Living, Niles. She was
born on June 6, 1926, in Galien, MI, and was a lifetime area resident.
She worked at Inter-City Bank. She was a member of Galien United
Methodist Church, and the Galien High School Band and Athletic Boosters.
She was a Cub Scout den mother. She enjoyed reading, traveling, and
spending time with her grandchildren. She was active in the church
choir, and sang at many weddings and funerals. She loved gardening,
feeding the birds and caring for her home. She married Richard "Dick"
Leidy on Sept. 11, 1982. He preceded her in death in September 2000. Her
first husband, Leo Trapp, preceded her in death in July 1967. They were
married on August 26, 1944. Her parents, Arthur Noggle and Helen Hickok,
also preceded her in death. Survivors include sons, John (Sharon) Trapp
of Martinsburg, W.Va., and James (Donna) Trapp of Galien; stepsons, Bill
(Susan) Leidy of Buchanan, MI, and Thomas Leidy of Ohio; grandchildren,
Kristy Schlutt, Kacey Trapp, Kerri Trapp, Tessanna Trapp and Jenny
Trapp; brothers, Merlin Noggle of Bellingham, WA, Fred Hickok of
Cleveland, OH, and Richard Hickok of Buchanan, MI; a sister, Linda Brink
of Port St. John, FL; and five great-grandchildren. Services will be at
1 p.m. Wednesday in Galien United Methodist Church, Galien, MI, with
Pastor Russell Logston officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6
to 8 p.m. today in the Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan, MI. Burial will
take place at Galien Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the
Galien United Methodist Church or to The Galien Library.
