Barbara A. Schoeneberger

Barbara Alice Schoeneberger, age 75 of Ozark, passed away October 29, 2021.
She was born November 23, 1945 in Webster Groves, Missouri, the daughter of Vincent H. and Virginia A. (Mattox) Schoeneberger.
Barbie discovered her love of music early in life by singing and learning to play the piano. By seventh grade she began playing the organ at church and within a year she was singing and playing the organ at weddings. Barbie sang in the Concert Choir at Thomas Jefferson High School in Dallas. Her junior year she sang "un bel di" from Madame Butterfly at the Spring Concert and played Marian the Librarian in "The Music Man" her senior year.
After high school Barbie entered the convent of the Ursuline Sisters of Paola, Kansas. Although she left after almost 4 years, just before her final vows, her faith was strengthened by this experience. Anyone who knew her knows what an integral part her faith was in her life; it was easily observable in her morning and evening prayers and the breadth of her knowledge of the Catholic faith and church history.
Barbie attended Washington University in St. Louis, graduating with a BA in Music (voice and piano). Later she earned a Masters in Human Resources. She was Corporate HR Director for Northern Natural Gas in Omaha, NE and later started her own HR Consulting firm.
In 1982 she married Roger Prai, her husband of 39 years.
In 1993, Barbie and Roger relocated to Ozark, MO and opened Finley River Photography. In the early 2000's Barbie began working with the Una Voce movement to bring the Latin Mass to the Ozark area for those who wanted it. She was the editor and main writer of Una Voce's Newsletter.
In recent years, Barbie defeated stage 4 breast cancer metastasized to the bone. She loved gardening – vegetables, herbs, and flowers – and enjoyed the outdoors. She passed away after a valiant battle against viral pneumonia, a complication of Covid.
Barbie was preceded in death by her parents.
Surviving family includes her husband Roger Prai of Ozark, MO and her siblings B. (Anita) of Plano, TX, Carl F. (Sara) of Prosper, TX, Christine M. of Princeton, TX, and Irene C. of Newburgh, IN, three nieces, four nephews, three great nieces, and nine great nephews.
A visitation will be held from 6-8 P.M. Wednesday, November 3, 2021 with Rosary at 7:30 P.M., at Adams Funeral Home, Ozark. A Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, November 4, 2021 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Ozark, under direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark. Burial will follow at Weaver Cemetery, Ozark.
