William Ashby Manson, Sr., 87, passed away on December 10, 2007.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Janet Gresham Manson; his son, William Ashby Manson Jr. and wife, Lyn Kyle; two daughters, Betsy Gresham Manson and Ellen Manson Moore and her husband, Jim; three grandchildren, Mary Kyle Manson, Ashby Gresham Manson, and Jeffrey Dosser Moore, all of the Richmond area. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Sydney L. Manson and Dr. R. Campbell Manson; and a sister, Virginia Wood.

Mr. Manson, a World War II Army veteran, was a 1942 graduate of VPI & SU, with a degree in mechanical engineering, and was a member of the Highty Tighties.

He was a Professional Engineer, specializing in Acoustical Engineering. He was the retired past President and CEO of Manson & Utley, Inc. In 1969, he served as President of the National Acoustical Contractors Association (CISCA).

A family interment at Riverview Cemetery Friday, December 14, 2007, at 11 a.m. A memorial service was at 2 p.m. Friday, December 14, 2007, at Westhampton United Methodist Church, 6100 Patterson Ave., Richmond, VA 23226.

In lieu of flowers, send donations to Westhampton United Methodist Church or to the American Red Cross.

Arrangements handled by the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home.
