Douglas Leon Barnes, 67, of Hutchinson, departed from this life on October 23, 2021. He was born September 28, 1954, in Hutchinson, to Ivan and Glenda Barnes.

Doug graduated high school in Wellston, Oklahoma in 1973. Soon after he enlisted in the United States Navy from 1974 to 1977. Doug was honorably discharged and returned to Oklahoma and soon moved back to Kansas.

He married Debbie Loudenback and her son, Jeremy. From their union they had a daughter, Tanda and a son, Toby. Doug was blessed with two very special grandchildren, Payton and Parker Barnes. He also had two wonderful young girls, Kenzington and Carrington Newton and their great-grandmother, Charlene Mumford to fill his days with joy.

Doug worked at various jobs before going to work at Eaton Hydraulics in Hutchinson. After 35 years of service, he retired. He loved his family and riding his Harley. Both brought him joy and laughter. Doug was a fan of all motorcycle rallies and he loved traveling to Sturgis, South Dakota. Riding freed his mind and soul.

He is survived by: daughter, Tanda Barnes (Michael Wages), Hutchinson; son, Toby Barnes, Abbyville; son, Jeremy Stauffacher, Hutchinson; sister, Julie Davenport (Ronnie), Wellston, Oklahoma; mother, Glenda Forbes, Hutchinson; significant other, Charlene Mumford, Hutchinson; grandchildren, Payton and Parker Barnes, Owen Stauffacher; nieces and nephews, Ashley Swindell, Lucas Davenport, and Jesse Davenport; and bonus grandchildren, Kenzington and Carrington Newton.

Doug was preceded in death by his father, Ivan Barnes.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, October 29, 2021, at New Hope Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted at the cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
