US NAVY | VIETNAM
1951 - 2007
Early Life: Forrest was born November 10, 1951, in Butte, Montana, to Vernon Arnold "Vern" and Donna Marie Courtney Salcido. In 1959, at the age of eight, Forrest's father died of a gunshot wound. He graduated from Sentinel High School in 1971.
Life’s Work | Service | Interests: Immediately following high school graduation, Forrest joined the United States Navy, following in his father, Vern's, footsteps. After returning home, Forrest's employment included Evans Products plywood mill and the railroad, now known as Montana Rail Link. He moved around a bit. Tiring of the normal work place, however, he eventually chose the simplest of lives, doing odd jobs, only concerned with tomorrow, not next week, next month or next year. He had lost his aunt, Cleo Clawson, 94, of Missoula, on October 4, 2007, then his mother, 77, of Missoula, who lost her battle with lung cancer and a broken hip. Both had wished to pass away quietly and unnoticed; no obituaries have been published. Forrest Clayton “Clay” Salcido was killed Wednesday, December 5, 2007. He was 56 years old.
