He was married in 1831 to Mary Catherine (Goff) Bucklew (1812-1858) and they had 11 children together. She was born in Virginia (Preston County, WV) and also died in this area. There is no official record of her gravesite.
His father is listed as William Bucklew (1770-1837), born in Monmouth County, NJ and died in Preston County, WV. His mother is recorded as Anne (Michael) Bucklew (1772-1860), born in Loudoun County, VA and died on Cheat Mountain, Preston County, WV.
