Henry Francis Ghezzi, 85, a retired coal industry executive, died peacefully at his residence in Suntree on Tuesday, May 16, 2006. In recent years he suffered from coronary artery disease and congestive heart failure. Mr. Ghezzi was born on October 17, 1920 in Wishaw, PA, the son of Ferruccio and Angelina (Benigni) Ghezzi, and came to Brevard County in 1987. He graduated in 1939 from Elders Ridge High School in Pennsylvania. He served in the United States Navy as a ship fitter aboard the USS Capella and USS Helena from 1942 to 1945, earning the Victory Medal for the American Campaign in Europe.

Following World War II, he returned to McIntyre, PA, where he was certified as a mine electrician. He also attended the mining engineering program at the University of Pittsburgh. Beginning in 1952, Mr. Ghezzi worked as a plant superintendent at Berwind White Coal Company in Windber, PA. He subsequently held several senior positions with Island Creek Coal Company, including Vice President of the company's Northern Division. He later served as Vice President of Operations for Feteroff Coal in Somerset, PA, and Kingwood Mining, in Kingwood, WV. He concluded his professional career as an independent management consultant, specializing in the processing of metallurgical coals.

Mr. Ghezzi retired to Suntree in 1989. He was appointed to the Governors Commission on Clean Water in Pennsylvania. He was also a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus, in the Prince Gallitzin (Pennsylvania) Assembly and a member of the Lions Club. An avid golfer, he and his wife were founding members of Suntree Country Club and St. John the Evangelist Church in Viera, FL.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy B. (Yarchak) Ghezzi; and two sons, Keith T. (Lisa Marie) Ghezzi, of Easton, MD and Kevin H. Ghezzi of Marietta, GA. He is also survived by a brother-in-law, Carl W. (Mary) Yarchak of Black Lick, PA; a sister-in-law, Marilyn J. (David) Zubalick of Blairsville, PA; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Emelia S. Salva of Indiana, PA.
