BORGER, Conrad, born 15-05-1833, Althim Hessen, Darmstad, Germany, died 1916. Conrad Borger, born at Althim Hessen Darmstad, Germany, on May 15, 1833. He attended public school until confirmed in the Lutheran faith at 16 years of age. He left Germany in 1853 for America and landed in New Orleans in August of the same year. He then came to Mascuta, IL, and worked at his tailoring trade until he was married on March 24, 1855 to Johanna (Goenter) Borger and on the following day the young couple left for Jerseyville. They were parents of 6 children: 2 survive Annie and Jetty. Mrs Borger and 4 children preceded him in death. She died Sept. 29, 1907. George, Conrad, Charles and Alvena preceaded. Mrs Trankle died Nov.17, 1910. Charles Borger died Nov.28, 1915. The father died Feb. 21, 1916. 2 daughters are Mrs Christ Harms and Mrs. Andrew Schreiber, 2 sons-in-law, 1 daughter-in-law, 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
