Donald J. Tierney, age 82 of Williamsburg, Va., previously of Danbury, beloved husband of the late Nancy (Murphy) Tierney. Donald was born in Danbury, September 21, 1925, son of the late Patrick and Elizabeth (Mockovcak) Tierney. He was a graduate of Danbury High School and had served in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he had attained the rank of sergeant. He had worked for more than 20 years as an electrician and electrical contractor in the Danbury area, before joining the staff at Henry Abbott Regional Technical School, as the head of the Electrical Department and driving instructor for more than 15 years, prior to retirement. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for 60 years, and was a member of the American Legion. He had served the City of Danbury as a constable, member of the Democratic Town Committee, the Environmental Impact Commission and Bail Commissioner. He had lived in Danbury until moving to Williamsburg, Va. in 2006. He is survived by a son, retired Danbury Fire Department, Assistant Chief, Jeffrey J. Tierney and wife, Susann of Williamsburg , Va,; a grandson, David J. Tierney of Jersey City, N.J.; and a granddaughter, Patricia A. Tierney of Ridgefield . Funeral services will be held privately. Contributions in his memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.
