Jacob G. "Jake" Crider, 82, of Shippensburg, passed away the morning of Friday, November 5, 2021 at the Menno Haven Rehabilitation Center.

He was born on February 26, 1939 in Hays Grove, a son of the late Jacob M. and Martha J. (Rine) Crider.

Jake was the owner and founder of Crider Meats, Shippensburg, which opened on October 20, 1977. He enjoyed woodcarving and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Jake was a local history buff and loved writing about local history. Both Jake and his wife, Bonnie were very generous and selfless people who enjoyed helping others.

Jake was a life member of the Shippensburg Historical Society and Shippensburg Fish & Game. He was also a member of the Shippensburg Church of the Brethren and the Mowersville One Room Schoolhouse Committee.

He is survived by his two sons, Jacob Michael (Adrianne) Crider, and Timothy Edward (Companion, Bonnie Walter Marpoe); two grandchildren, Jacob Matthew (Lisa) Crider and Ann Marie C. (Corey) Higgins; three great-granddaughters, Melanie Crider, Veronica Crider, and Piper Higgins; one sister, Bertha Kolva; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bonita A. "Bonnie" (Martin) Crider, who passed away on April 22, 2017. Also preceding him in death are three siblings, Gerald Crider, Melvin Crider, and Doris Brenize.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. Pastor Brian Markle and Pastor Jonathan Bream will officiate. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hall Cemetery. A viewing will be held Tuesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and at the request of the family, everyone in attendance will be required to wear a face mask and social distance as much as possible. Those without a mask will not be permitted to attend.
