One of the oldest, if not the oldest, native-born citizens of Charlotte died on the 8th inst. at his residence in this city, vis: Wm. F. Davidson, Esq., aged 77 years. Besides holding the offices of mayor and Justice of the Peace, he served Mecklenburg county in the General Assembly several terms, and made a faithful and useful member. He was a popular man in this community, and always a took an active part in its public affairs until within a few years past, when he became incapacitated from bad health.
We see there is some question as to the exact locality where Mr. Davidson was born. Our impression is, from information gathered twenty years ago, that he was born on the lot now occupied by A. R. Nisbet & Bro.'s Grocery Store and part of Granite Row. About 40 years ago there was a dwelling on that lot with a Well in the yard. The remains of the Well, though filled up, are still to be seen in Messrs Nisbet's cellar.

Nisbet & Bro.'s Grocery Store and part of Granite Row. About 40 years ago there was a dwelling on that lot with a Well in the yard. The remains of the Well, though filled up, are still to be seen in Messrs Nisbet's cellar.
