Arvid G. McCombs, 83, of Nampa, ID died Wednesday, July 11 1990 at his home. Funeral services were held in the Kuna Ward. Interment was Saturday, July 14, at Grover, WY.
He was born Oct 16, 1906, in a three-room log house in Grover, the youngest of 11 children. He grew up on the family ranch where he tended sheep, raised cattle and broke horses. He later purchased the family farm.
He married Wanda L. Hepworth June 11, 1936, at the Logan LDS Temple. In 1955 they moved to Letha, ID and purchased a ranch on the Payette River where they lived until retiring in 1972. They moved to a small acreage outside of Nampa.
He loved his horses and raised registered Arabians. He was a Mr. Fix-it and enjoyed repairing and building things. He was a good neighbor and loved the ranch life. He was a peacemaker, settling disagreements between others. He always took others into his home who needed care.
He was active in the LDS Church and was a member of the Kuna 3rd Ward, Nampa ID South Stake. He had served a six-month mission and held many other church positions. He sang at many church functions.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda of Nampa; four sons, RaMon McCombs of Nampa, Gray McCombs of Sacramento CA and Brent and Dwight McCombs, both of Boise; 11 grandchildren and one great grandson.
He was preceded in death by a son Kelton, in 1949; six sisters; and four brothers.
