Mr. Van Dean Lawrence, age 63, of West Jefferson passed away Wednesday morning, November 10, 2021, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
Memorial services were held on Monday, November 15, 2021, at 1pm at Boone Family Funeral Home with Mike Lemly officiating. A private graveside services was held for immediate family at Bald Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family received friends on Monday from 11-1pm at Boone Family Funeral Home.
The family also received friends at Van's home in West Jefferson on Saturday, November 13, 2021, beginning at 4:00 pm.
Mr. Lawrence was born in Ashe County on February 18, 1958, to the late Warren Dean Lawrence and Thelma HOUCK Lawrence. He retired from Skyline/Skybest where he worked for many years. Van was a kind and gentle person who loved spending time with family and friends telling stories. He was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan and loved watching westerns. He will be greatly missed.
Van survived by one daughter; Morgan Lawrence of Bunn, NC, one son; Zach Lawrence of West Jefferson, two brothers; David Lawrence and wife Judy of Wilkesboro, and Talmage Lawrence and wife Marianne of West Jefferson, three sisters; Brenda Shepherd and husband Bob of Asheville, Dianne LAWRENCE Little and husband Steve of Harrisonburg, VA, and Christine Osborne and husband Steve of North Wilkesboro, and special friend; Tammy Vannoy of West Jefferson, several nieces and nephews also survive.
