Born February 18, 1951, he was the son of the Late Alphonse C. Hempfling and Gertrude (Kennedy) Hempfling.
Dave proudly served his country in the Air Force and in the Navy as a registered nurse and retired at the rank of Lieutenant Commander.
He enjoyed living life to the fullest, photography and spending his days with his beloved dog Baxter.
Surviving are his children, Tara (Wendell) Hall, Marlin Blaine (Ashley) Hempfling, Jeremy (Crystal) Hempfling and Branden David Hempfling, three grandchildren, Bailey Hall, Ethan and Isaac Hempfling, his niece Lorraine (Edward) Thiele, nephew John (Naomi) Bennett, great-nephews and great-niece, William and James Thiele, Clayton and Autumn Bennett.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Ann Hempfling Bennett Geibel, who passed away just one day prior to David.
