Richard Klockman passed away from cancer on July 10, 2007, in Portland, Ore.

He was born June 19, 1928. His first eight years were spent in St. Louis, Mo., followed by a move to Pittsburgh, Pa., where he graduated from high school in 1945.

He joined the U.S. Merchant Marines, then the U.S. Navy. His ship was decommissioned in 1946 in Portland and he began his lifelong affiliation with, and affection for, the Northwest.

He attended Reed College, and then transferred to Lewis and Clark from which he received a B.S. in chemistry in 1950.

He married Joan Palmer of Camus, Wash., in 1948. Their children include Anne L. Duschka (Robert) of Scappoose, Ore.; Norman Richard; and Alan P. (Eve) of Beaverton, Ore.
In 1988, he married Jane Davidson Schultz, then of Milwaukee, Wis. Dick and Jane lived in Bozeman, also in Portland, Ore.

Dick's long corporate career began in 1951 with Essex Wire in California; then with Crown Zellerbach in California, Washington and Louisiana. From 1964 until his retirement in 1994, his career was in sales with the chemical division of PPG Industries, as head of the Portland office, and included the northwest U.S., western Canada, and Alaska.

Dick was a 33 degree Scottish Rite Mason, actively engaged, until death, on several boards of the Scottish Rite and their Language Disorders Clinics in Oregon and in Montana.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan; son, Norman; wife, Jacqueline; and stepson, Richard P. Schultz.
Dick is survived by his wife, Jane of Bozeman; daughter, Anne; son, Alan; granddaughter, Jessica Klockman; stepson, Henry Schultz (Pat) of Green Bay, Wis.; stepdaughter, Karen S. Shimshak, M.D. (Thomas) of Milwaukee, Wis.

His ashes were interred in Portland, Ore.
