Ione Anderson, 81, of Rock Rapids, Iowa, formerly of Hawarden, died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007, at Lyon Manor in Rock Rapids.

Ione Ellen Powell was born July 18, 1926, to Jesse and Blanche (Ridenour) Powell, in Vermillion, S.D. Her family moved to Hawarden when she was 18 years old.

She was united in marriage to Carl Roy Anderson on Sept. 5, 1947, in Hawarden. Carl died Oct. 10, 1988. She moved to Rosewood Heights in Rock Rapids, Iowa, in 1995. In 2004, she moved into Lyon Manor.

She enjoyed playing bingo and other activities at the nursing home, watching Lawrence Welk and the Antique Road Show.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Paul) Ageson of Lester, Iowa, Merry Peterson of Rock Rapids, Iowa, and Betty (Lowell) Knobloch of Larchwood, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and sisters, Ruth Busby and Wilma (Paul) Jones, all of Kalispell, Mont.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; her parents, Jesse and Blanche Powell; five brothers; and a sister.
