US Congressman. In 1881 he established the Saturday News in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania and served as editor and publisher. He was delegate to the Republican State convention in 1889, a member of the State House of Representatives from 1893 to 1897, and served in the State Senate, 1901 to 1905. In 1907, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixtieth, Sixty-first and Sixty-second Congresses, serving until 1913. A unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed his newspaper business and served as Deputy Secretary of the Commonwealth in 1928 and 1929. In 1933, he was reelected to the Seventy-third, Seventy-fourth and Seventy-fifth Congresses and served until his death.
