He was born January 15, 1947 in Gloversville, the son of Arthur C. and Eva M. Fairchild Chase.
Joseph served his country proudly in the United States Army from 1967 to 1972.
He was employed as a taxi driver and worked for various local companies over the years including Glove Cities Taxi.
Joe loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing. He was also an avid New York Yankees fan, often preferring to listen to the games on the radio rather than watching them on TV. Most of all, he loved his family and spent time with them as often as he could.
He was a faithful member of the Fellowship of Christians and Jews.
Survivors include two sons: Joseph Chase, Jr. of Johnstown and Matthew Chase of Florida; two daughters: Melissa Christman Justin Martin of Johnstown and Miriam Parigoris Jason of North Carolina; six grandchildren; his mother, Eva Chase of Broadalbin; a sister, Edith Chase of Broadalbin and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Chase.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service Thursday, August 9 at 1 p.m. at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home; 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville, NY 12078 with the Reverend Dr. R. W. Williams presiding. There will be no calling hours. Donations may be made to the American Lung Association, 61 Broadway, NY, NY 10006.
