William Lawrence "Sonny" Batten, 73, of Edgewater Park, N.J., passed away on Aug. 7, 2004.
Born in Back Bay, "Pungo," Va., to the late Vernon and Velda Batten, he was also predeceased by his wife, Margie Batten and stepmother, Mary Batten. Being a U.S. Navy veteran, he worked until his retirement as a route supervisor for Southland Corp. in Philadelphia, Pa.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his sister, Virginia Adams of Wilmington, N.C.; daughters, Gloria Rumburg and Sue Siler of Eastampton, Carol Swanson and son-in-law Randy Swanson of Edgewater Park, N.J.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandsons of New Jersey along with two sons and one daughter of Harrisonburg.
Graveside services will he held at 11 a.m. Friday in Charity Cemetery, 4080 Charity Neck Road, Virginia Beach. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, is handling the arrangements. "
