From "The Daily Notes", Canonsburg, PA, 6 April 1962:

John C. Young, 85, of Canonsburg, RD#1, died in the Thomas Nursing Home April 6, 1962, at 4 am following an illness of seven months.

He was born October 19, 1876 in Austria, and lived in the Canonsburg district for 75 years. He was a retired coal miner.

His wife, Mary Krieger Young, died in 1930.

Survivors include four sons: Frank, Elmer and Robert, all of RD#1, Canonsburg; Arthur, Providence, RI; two daughters: Mrs. Minnie Maurer, RD#1, Washington; Mrs. Clara Higgins, Houston; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the William E. Speakman Funeral Home, Houston, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm Saturday and Sunday. Services will be held from the funeral home Monday, April 9, at 1 pm, in charge of the Rev. C.A. Gifford, Union Gospel Mission, Cecil. Burial will be in Melrose Cemetery, Bridgeville.
