HUNTSVILLE - Faye Marie (Griffith) Hancock, 66, of Huntsville was born December 5, 1954, to Virginia Marie (Ferguson) and Clet Edward Griffith and passed from her loved ones on October 3, 2021.

"Matriarch" does not begin to describe Faye but it is the only word in the English language that could come close to explaining the love this woman had for her family. "Family" is used lightly here because, actually, if she ever met you, you were family to her. "In-laws" didn't exist, it was family. "Friends" did not exist, they were family. Simply put, family meant everything to Faye. Protecting her family was her only goal in life and she was fierce at it. Faye put her family first to the very end, always worrying more about them than herself. Even as she was sick, her mind was more on her husband having to drive back and forth to the hospital than it was on her own illness.

Faye took great pride in her husband Ralph and everything he does for her and their family. Her great unconditional love for her husband and commitment to their marriage was a way of being that everyone should strive for. Spending 50 years married and then being able to count how many times you've spent apart in all of those years is an accomplishment you do not hear of.

Faye had a special bond with each one of her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids, each one being a bond unique from the other. She was their protector, their provider, their shoulder and their anchor. None of us feel we deserved the love she gave us every day but she gave it anyway.

Faye was hotheaded and mean as fire but in a good way. Anyone that knew her knew that they were going to hear what she had to say even if they didn't want to but they also loved her for that very reason. She would never tell you what you wanted to hear, she always told you what you needed to hear.

Faye had a wonderful gift for making you laugh until you cried or, if you were upset, she could turn your tears into laughter. She had an intuition for that and would do whichever she felt you needed at the time.

We will not ever truly enjoy peanut butter cookies, peanut brittle or coleslaw again because if you knew her then you know that, hands down, Faye was better than anyone at making those things. She cooked with love, she seasoned with love and her family thoroughly enjoyed every bite of everything she ever created for them.

To say that Faye will be greatly missed isn't words enough but missed she will be - immeasurably so.

Faye was preceded in death by son, Joey Hancock; brother, Bruce Griffith; mother, Virginia Marie Daniels; and many more loved ones waiting to see her.

She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Ralph Eugene Hancock; sons, Kevin Ray Hancock, Aaron Eugene Hancock, and Brandon Ray Hancock; daughters, Shelly Dawn Jenkins and Noel Dawn Hancock; grandsons, Anthony Hancock, Harley Hancock, and Daxton Hancock; granddaughter, Sunshine Hancock; great-grandsons, Bryson Tyler Ames and Zacharia Hancock; great-granddaughter, Kaydence LilyAnn McRae; sisters, Sandra Treat and Connie Davidson; brother, Scott Griffith; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Viewing will be Friday, Oct. 8, at 10 a.m. at Sisco Funeral Chapel in Springdale with a funeral immediately following at 11 a.m. Online condolences may be left at www.siscofuneral.com.
