Billy Jim (Bill) Brimberry passed peacefully on November 21, 2021, with his beloved wife, Nancy, at his side.

He was born September 23, 1928, in the Fellowship Community near Madisonville, Texas.

He grew up on a farm without electricity or running water. His father was a tenant farmer who tilled the soil with a horse drawn plow. Bill, his three sisters and his mother all worked in the fields. His mother raised wonderful vegetables in her garden and during the depression, though they were poor, they always had plenty to eat.

Bill graduated from Madisonville High School in 1948. His father gave him bus fare to Houston and enough money for a week in a boarding house. He first applied for a job in a law office and was rejected. Next he went to Trinity Universal Insurance Company. The interviewer said, "So sorry, you are not qualified." However, the office manager overheard and said, "I like this young man. Let's give him a chance." So began a fifty year career in casualty and property insurance.

In 1956. Bill began attending the University of Houston and in 1959 he was awarded the CPCU designation (Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriters).

In 1953 he met Nancy Swafford and in 1955 they began a blessed life together that would continue for 66 years.

In 1972, he was offered an opportunity to become a partner in the Moore and Osborn Insurance Agency in McAllen.

In 1984, Bill and Nancy moved from McAllen to Austin to be near their children and grandchildren. Bill and son-in-law, Wayne Peacock, established the Brimberry-Peacock Insurance Agency.

Bill retired from his career in insurance in 1994 and the couple built a home in Alamo Country Club in Alamo, Texas. Golfing wasn't enough to occupy Bill, so he acquired a Commercial Driver's License and for thirteen years he drove a school bus for Edinburg Consolidated School District. He was assigned the Parent Teen Route and he took great joy in picking up the teen parents, delivering the babies to day care and the parents to school.

By 2007, Bill and Nancy decided to relocate near their children and bought a home in Georgetown, where they became members of First Baptist Church. Bill participated in the Merry Christmas With Love Ministry, Meals on Wheels, singing in the VIP (Voices in Praise) Choir, and meeting with his church buddies at Whataburger early Thursday mornings. For many years he was active in Rotary International maintaining a perfect attendance for fifteen years.

Bill's first love was for the Lord Jesus and His Church. As a teenager, Bill gave his life to Jesus and was baptized in the farm tank by the visiting preacher. He was ordained a deacon in 1961 in Britmoore Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. His life exemplified the fruits of the Holy Spirit: Love, Joy, Peace, Longsuffering, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-Control. Galatians 5:22-23.

Bill and Nancy enjoyed many years of camping and traveling in their RV's. The couple enjoyed traveling every year to the CPCU conventions held in large cities across the country, Hawaii and St. Moritz, Switzerland. Bill loved building their weekend cabin at Lake Livingston, fishing, and navigating long rides in their boat up the Trinity River, hiking, bowling, singing and his faithful dog Bandit who was always at his side or in his lap.

Surviving Bill are his wife, Nancy Swafford Brimberry of Georgetown, his daughter, Susan Peacock of Round Rock, Texas, his son-in-law Joe Langford of Cedar Park; grandchildren, Christopher Peacock and wife Julie of Paris,Texas, Sara Peacock and Erin Langford, both of Round Rock, Texas, and Sam Langford of College Station, Texas; great grandchildren, Laney Peacock, Troy Peacock and Hank Peacock, and numerous nephews and nieces. He was the loving and proud patriarch of four generations.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Lemma Brimberry; sisters Frances Frazier, Marjorie Barber and Joan Nehlig; his grandson, Troy Alan Peacock, daughter, Melinda Langford and son-in-law, Wayne Peacock.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions, in care of First Baptist Church, 1333 West University Avenue, Georgetown, Texas 78628.Precious in the Sight of the Lord is the passing of his faithful servant. Psalm 116:15
