Robert Long, age 18, enlisted as a private on March 7, 1862, and, in Company K, Ohio 45th Infantry Regiment on 19 Aug 1862. Mustered out on 12 Jun 1865 at Camp Harker, Tennessee. Birth Date: abt 1844. Sources: Official Roster of the Soldiers of the State of Ohio.

Chico Weekly Chronicle-Record, Saturday, May 7, 1896, pg 2 col 4: Robert Long Dead. Robert Long died Thursday at 10 o'clock at his home on Seventh street, between Wall and Flume. The funeral will take place Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Salvation Army Barrack. The old friends of Mr. Long in the G.A.R. are invited to attend and march to the cemetery.

The deceased was a native of Ohio, and had served in the 45th regiment from that State during the late war. He was a hard worker, and since joining the Salvation Army about 18 months ago, had been a sober, industrious man.

Chico Chronicle-Record, Monday, May 11, 1896, pg 3 col 4: Funeral of Robert Long. The Salvation Army conducted the services over the remains of the late Robert Long yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock. A number of beautiful floral offerings had been brought by friends of the deceased. The pall bearers were members of the local post of the Grand Army.
