Chico Weekly Chronicle-Record, Saturday, May 7, 1896, pg 2 col 4: Robert Long Dead. Robert Long died Thursday at 10 o'clock at his home on Seventh street, between Wall and Flume. The funeral will take place Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Salvation Army Barrack. The old friends of Mr. Long in the G.A.R. are invited to attend and march to the cemetery.
The deceased was a native of Ohio, and had served in the 45th regiment from that State during the late war. He was a hard worker, and since joining the Salvation Army about 18 months ago, had been a sober, industrious man.

A number of beautiful floral offerings had been brought by friends of the deceased. The pall bearers were members of the local post of the Grand Army.
