1923 Dec 11 - Cadillac - Claude D Nelson was born Friday 09 Aug 1907 in Cadillac to Lewis A & Ellen (Morgan) Nelson. He was a fireman on a boat.

Claude D Nelson of Cadillac died Tuesday 11 Dec 1923 at the age of 16 y 4 m 2 d at Mercy Hospital in Cadillac from an accidental Gunshot Wound Right Chest and Both Hands from shotgun. He was taking a break from work at a farm near Boon when a younger child brought out the shot gun he thought was unloaded. He was holding the gun when a younger child pulled the trigger. The shot gun pellets blew away part of his hands and entered his chest. His hand was clasped around the muzzle at the time of the gunshot. Burial was in Section 2, Plot 11 in Cherry Grove Township Cemetery in Cadillac. He was buried in the family plot with no stone. Survivors included his father, Lewis; and 4 brothers, John Lewis Nelson, Oscar L Nelson, Louis R Nelson, and Frank Nelson. He was preceded in death by his mother Ellen 18 Feb 1917; 1 brother, Carl Oscar Nelson 19 Jul 1889; and 1 sister, Hannah H Nelson 13 Apr 1900.

Burial was in Section 2, Plot 11 in Cherry Grove Township Cemetery in Cadillac. He was buried in the family plot with no stone.
