Hiram T. Beecher, one of the best known residents of the town of Pleasant Valley, died at his home, a short distance east of Pleasant Valley village on Saturday, after a long illness, at an advanced age. He was best known throughout the county as a lay preacher of the Methodist Church, and had many friends. During the existence of the old Dutchess County Agricultural Society, Mr. Beecher was one of the regular attendants at the meetings, and he always took part in the discussions of the various questions coming up. He was a man of deep religious conviction, a most excellent citizen and friend. His death will cause sincere regret wherever he is known.
