Joseph B. Ickes was born on the Brady Farm, located one mile west of Duncannon, PA. Parents were Dr. Jonathan Jonas Ickes and Mary (Duncan) Ickes. Mary was the niece of Rev. Joseph Brady, a minister of the Presbyterian church in this section of Perry County.

Joseph married Rose WHITE of Philadelphia, PA in 1849.

Joseph died on Duncan's Island, PA on June 28, 1851. Rose died in Philadelphia, PA in 18==, leaving one son, Edward Jonas Ickes.

Edward Jonas Ickes was born in New Bloomfield (Perry County) on December 2, 1849. Edward came to Monmouth, IL with his Grandfather in 1856. As of April 1891, Edward lived in Wichita, KS with a wife and three children (Jessie, Rose, and Edward Rolland Ickes).
