Funeral services for Max Gaylord Alldredge 87, of Palestine, will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at the First Christian Church, with Rev. Jordan Byrd officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Park. Arrangements have been entrusted to Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.

Mr. Alldredge passed from this earth to eternal life on Thursday, November 25, 2021, in UT Health Center in Tyler.
He was born on September 3, 1934, to Jimmy and Pauline Alldredge.
Max graduated from Palestine High School in 1952, where he played football for the Palestine Wildcats. He graduated from TCU where he majored in accounting and business, and was a member of SAC fraternity. He served his country in the United States Air Force, and during that time he met his future wife of over fifty years, Martha Tettleton.

Max worked as a commercial underwriter for Trinity Universal in Dallas, Texas, until he came back to Palestine in 1972. He worked for his dad doing tax returns until Max established Alldredge Insurance Company, and ran a successful business until he retired in 2000.

Max was a true gentleman in every sense of the word. He cared about showing respect to others and doing his best in all of his endeavors. He was a member of the First Christian Church, where he served on their board and sang in the choir. He enjoyed playing bridge, and was an avid reader. He was a hunter, skier, and golfer. Max was respected in the business community and worked hard to build a successful insurance agency, where he mentored his employees and served the community as a Rotarian.

Max was preceded in death by his wife Martha in 2013. He is survived by his nephews Nicky Nesbitt and wife Renee of Streetman, Don Nesbitt and wife Rita, niece Donna Nesbitt all of Houston, and numerous other nieces and nephews. Max will be greatly missed by his special friend, Angela Woodard and his nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Phil Jenkins, Rusty LaRue, Andrew Meyers, David Sustaire, Trace Jeffus, and Joe Ed Johnston.

The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the caregivers at Dogwood Trails Memory Care, where Max had been for the past year.
