Gloria Glendine Garrick Collier, age 96 , passed away peacefully at her home on November 24, 2021 . She was a much beloved "Southern lady"whom was a special daughter , sister ,wife , mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister-in-law and cousin. She was preceded in death by her parents ,Mattie Estelle and Clarence Garrick, her husband James Kilby Collier and her siblings , C.E. Garrick, Reginald Garrick , Elaine Roberts and Buddy Garrick. She is survived by her sister ,Maud Garrick , her son Phillip Collier, daughter Brenda Collier , granddaughter Alexandra Collier (James) Shaw , grandson James Collier, and new sweet great-granddaughter Georgia Shaw and her treasured nieces and nephews. "Glen " was born June 16,1925 in Lower Peach Tree , AL. ( Wilcox County ) as one of six close-knit siblings. She completed high school at age 16 as valedictorian of her class and continued to be a lifelong learner and avid reader . Glen graduated from business college and had a lengthy career as a stenographer and secretary from the 1940's to the 1990's which included jobs at the VA, State Military Department and State Treasurers Office . Glen was a member of the "greatest generation"and was employed as a secretary at the Gulf Shipbuilding Corporation ( in Mobile ,AL ) during World War II . She was a devout Christian raised in the Methodist faith. Glen's many interests included travel, the beauties of nature, photography, word puzzles , history , collecting mementos, growing houseplants and enjoying Southern authors and storytellers . She was also especially devoted to providing loving care to many pets through the years . Most importantly Glen fully devoted her life to her family whom will always love and cherish her memory ; and God blessed her with a long and productive life .
