Mr. Morrell was born on July 15, 1922 in Clinton, IA, the son of Albert H. and Margaret Johnston Morrell.

He served three years in the US Army Air Force during World War Two.

In 1950, he graduated from Iowa State University with a BSEE.

He married the late Dorothy Halsey in 1950.

Albert joined RCA in 1950. He became Manager of Product Development there, responsible for the design and development of color picture tubes.

During his career, he was issued twenty-nine US patents for various aspects of color tube design.

He received two RCA David Sarnoff Outstanding Engineering Achievement awards for work on picture tube design.

After a 37-year career at RCA, he consulted for several years in Europe for the Thompson Company.

Mr. Morrell was a lifetime member of IEEE and was chairman of the IEEE standards commit on CRT's.

He received the IEEE Vladmir Zworykin award for contributions for color shadow mask development and design.

Albert was also the co-author of an early book on color tube design and wrote shorter articles for several technical publications.

He made numerous technical presentations at conventions in the United States, as well as in China, Europe and Japan.

He is survived by five children, and seven grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Clinton, IA.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Morrell.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, September 27, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Lancaster, 538 West Chestnut Street, Lancaster.

Funeral services will be held immediately thereafter.
