Hattie Mae Gehrke, 96, of 8014 Bethel Road in Arpin, formerly of Marshfield, died at 6 a.m. March 7, 2000, at the Bethel Center where she has been a patient for the past 8-½ years.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at the Hansen Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Janet Wolfe, of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Duane Helgerson will be the soloist and Maldon Plank will be the organist.
Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Dale, Dennis, James, Tom Gehrke, Ted Meyer and Paul Gehrke Jr.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral chapel.
She was born Oct. 18, 1903, in Marshfield, the daughter of Paul and Bertha (nee Nienas) Gehrke. She received her education in the City View school in the town of McMillan. She was a graduate of the St. Joseph's School of Nursing, class of 1926.
Hattie worked at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield and later went to work at Memorial Hospital in Two Rivers, returning to Marshfield after World War II. She then worked at St. Joseph's Hospital until her retirement. After her retirement she did private nursing.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Professional Nurses Association.
She is survived by two brothers, Paul E (Annette) Gehrke of Mosinee and Louis R. (Delores) Gehrke of Two Rivers; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Grace Wiena, Helen Lee and Laura Dassler; and four brothers, Robert, Elmer, Leonard and Roy Gehrke.
Memorials may be designated to the family in her name and they will establish a memorial at a later date.
