BLOOMING PRAIRIE -- Arnold R. Hanson, 83, of Blooming Prairie, Minn., died Dec. 15, 2007 at Prairie Manor Care Center.
Arnold was born July 18, 1924 to Albert and Rose (Styndl) Hanson in Aurora Township, Steele County. He grew up in the house where he was born. After graduating from the Blooming Prairie High School, he joined the Marines and served in World War II. Upon returning from the Marines, he moved back to the family farm and farmed a few years. He married Jurene Braaten on Sept. 17, 1950 at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie. The couple farmed and made their home on the family farm over 54 years before moving into Blooming Prairie. Arnold enjoyed hunting, fishing and selling Pioneer Seed Corn over 27 years.
Survivors include his wife Jurene, Blooming Prairie; son, Bruce (Melody) Hanson, Sargeant Minn.; daughter, Karen (Bill) Grubisch, Owatonna Minn.; five grandchildren, Christine, Drew, Aaron, Weston and Ashley; one great granddaughter, Kya; brother, Kenneth (Elaine) Hanson, Owatonna; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Betty Dahle.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007 at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie with Reverend Richard Hegal and Reverend Heidi Heimgartner officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 - 8 p.m. on Monday evening at the Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home in Blooming Prairie and one hour before the service at the church. Memorials preferred to donor's choice. Military rites by Blooming Prairie American Legion Post # 52 and V.F.W. post #878. Blessed be his memory.
